We excited to announce the newest member of our Board, Laura Kupe!
Laura Kupe is currently a Policy Analyst for the AND Corporation, a nonpartisan global policy think tank. Prior to her time at RAND, Laura was a presidential appointee in the Obama Administration, where she last served as a Special Assistant at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the Office of International Engagement within the Office of Policy, working on European affairs. Previously, she was detailed to the Presidential Personnel Office in The White House and served as Domestic Director. She started her official tenure in the Obama Administration in June 2014 as the Briefing Book Coordinator to DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson. Prior to her time in the Obama Administration, Laura was a legislative fellow for Congresswoman Karen Bass (D-CA). She graduated with a B.A. from the University of Michigan with highest distinction in 2010 and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2013. Laura’s parents are originally from Kikwit in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and she was born in Germany and spent part of her childhood in Schieren, Luxembourg before moving to the Unites States at the age of nine.
Laura has been a supporter of FLOCA for awhile and as diligently served as a mentor to one of our high school students. We are glad to have her on board and look forward to working together as we continue to grow our program. Laura, welcome and thank you for your commitment to FLOCA.
