Many immigrant parents chose to leave their home countries for America in order to provide better opportunities for their children. Growing up in America, most of us at the Future Leaders of Our Community Award understood at an early age that a lot was expected from us. We were given the opportunity to live in America, therefore, we had the obligation to make the best of it. We believed then and now that, “to whom much is given, much is expected.” As students, we were blessed with wonderful teachers, mentors, and community programs that helped us to have great academic success and achieve various personal and career goals. We are grateful to those who reached back to us and believe that we should all reach back and do what we can to help our youth.
